Logistics
The research areas and visiting places are located in different natural conditions of Kyrgyzstan, from 500 m to 4000 m above sea level. For trips we will use comfortable Mercedes Sprinter minibuses for 13 passengers. We plan to use a second Mercedes vehicle to transport luggage, equipment and food; for hard-to-reach locations, we will use a KAMAZ – Vakhovka
We will meet all participants at the Bishkek airport.
Hotels
Participants arriving in Bishkek will be accommodated in a comfortable hotel in the center of the capital city of Bishkek. The hotel is planning to host a briefing and presentation of the summer school program. The summer school field camp will be located only in the Madygene Geopark for 3 days. In the village of the same name Madygen, the ethnographic atmosphere and local flavor have been preserved. The field camp has a toilet, shower, summer kitchen and dining room with magnificent views of the colorful landscapes. The field camp also has a power generator for camp lighting and electricity.
Food and cuisine
During the summer school, 3 meals a day will be offered in cafes or hotels. During radial trips to various locations, all participants will be provided with lunch boxes for picnics.
In the field camp in the Madygen Geopark, there will be a chef who has good experience in field trips. If you are a vegetarian, please inform us in advance.
Visas and permits
In Kyrgyzstan, a visa-free regime applies to citizens from more than 70 countries. A visa can also be obtained in a simplified manner for citizens from more than 65 countries.

For official and legal research, our organization has all the necessary permissions from the authorities. We will also obtain customs permits for exporting samples to other countries. Therefore, applications are accepted in advance.
Conditions for participation in the summer school, information about the commission (cash contribution), currency
The commission fee for participation in the summer school is intended to cover basic expenses, services, including a hotel in Bishkek. The contribution amount does not cover the costs of international air travel to Kyrgyzstan and back. The cash contribution for participation is 700 US dollars.
This amount covers the following expenses:
- Motor transport according to the program,
Three meals a day,
Accommodation in guest houses, hotels or yurt camps
Work of chef at a field camp in Madygen
Drinking water when moving from one location to another location
Meeting and delivery to the airport
GuideBook (for each participant)
Work of a summer school manager
Consumables for field camp – gas, gasoline for generator, household supplies, etc.

Field camp equipment
As for the field part of the summer school in the Madygen Geopark, the base camp will be located in a picturesque location on one of the private plots of a local farmer. The picturesque place is an oasis formed by karst springs among the arid badlands.
The Tien Shan Geological Society will provide all the necessary equipment for field work and the base field camp:
- Large kitchen tent,
Large tent or Kyrgyz yurt for dining,
Large scarves for field laboratories
Individual tents for each participant,
Field tables and chairs,
Kitchen utensils, individual utensils,
The source of electricity is an electric generator,
Field toilets,
Field shower,
Radio stations,
Satellite phone,
Packaging materials and containers for samples of fossil fauna and flora (must be discussed with each participant),

If you need an official invitation to participate in the summer school, you can request it via our email address. To do this, send us all the necessary information: in whose name the invitation should be written, your full name, position, place of work or study. You can also send your own version of the invitation letter.
What clothes are needed?
August is quite hot. But the route will pass through both arid, semi-desert places and high mountains where the temperature drops to 10-15 degrees during the day and 0-2 degrees at night. Therefore, you need to have a warm jacket and hat with you. It is also necessary to have a sun cap or bandana, sunglasses and sports mountain shoes.
