In March 2020, the 36th International Geological Congress will open in Delhi – the biggest global congress of geologists, held since 1878 in different countries. For the first time, the Tien-Shan Geological Society plans the participation of the Kyrgyz delegation in this grand geological event. For scientists in Kyrgyzstan, this is a landmark event that will be held at the highest level, where Kyrgyzstan can declare itself. Participation in the congress is an opportunity to get lots of information about international research projects, the possibility to publicly speak from the tribunes of the congress about the problems and research conducted in Kyrgyzstan; these are new contacts and cooperation with leading scientists and advanced organizations in the field of Earth sciences.
Kyrgyzstan’s membership in the IUGS and its participation in the IGC will be one of the image projects for the country. Members of the Geological Society are also planning to take part in the GEO EXPO – 2020, which will be held within the framework of the IGC, where stands and current geological materials of interest to the global geological community will be presented, in the form of achievements of geologists of Kyrgyzstan: scientific works, maps, atlases, forecasts other.
